NYC based French singer-songwriter Severine started to write and record as a solo artist, after years of playing with different bands, revealing the depths of her musical passion.
Her album “Feel the Rain” that was just released in October 2018 is the culmination of her multi-faceted emotional and creative journey, and reveals Severine’s hypnotic and compelling indie pop vibe, which artfully fuses electropop, dream pop, indie rock. The heartfelt 10 track-collection draws from a fascinating range of the well-traveled Severine’s influences, beginning with Radiohead and electronica rock legend Portishead, and including Sia, Florence + The Machine, Chvrches, Warpaint, MØ, St. Vincent, Grimes, Phantogram, Lorde, The National, Dido, The xx, Arcade Fire, Björk, The Cranberries and Cat Power.
Her first single “Not Obsessed” scored over 25,000 Spotify streams (music video featured on VEVO), and earned her endorsements and music deals with Sennheiser, Mac Cosmetics, Abercrombie & Fitch and GAP. Among many rave reviews in blogs and magazines, Huffington Post featured “Not Obsessed” as an Exclusive Music Premiere, calling it “shimmering pop rock”. Contributor Randy Radic wrote that the singer’s voice “demands special attention. It exudes vulnerability, while simultaneously shot through with myriad points of dazzling resonance and tiny clusters of illuminated light.” The album was penned by Severine and produced by Brooklyn-based producers William Baker and Anthony “Rocky” Gallo, former chief engineer at The Cutting Room Studios, who has worked with numerous icons including John Legend, Norah Jones, Common, Cat Power and Bon Jovi.
Born in Westfield, NJ, Severine moved with her family back to their native France at the age of four. She was raised near the Paris suburb of Versailles, where she began singing and expressing her love for music early on. She started piano lessons at age six, Nina Simone being one of her earliest inspirations. She then studied classical music and jazz for 12 years at a music conservatory. After living in Paris, then Mexico and Montreal over the course of two years where she continued singing in different bands, Severine finally settled in New York City in 2011.
